Abstract Landscape Quilts using Batiks: Desert Water

Desert Water 45cm Square, Mounted on Canvas. Strip pieced. An abstract desert landscape. The strips were cut 2.5cm wide with the landscape forming as you stitch. Inserted triangles formed by folding the strips up create movement. 

I have made a series of these over 11 years. I find batiks are a good choice for providing movement, depth of transparency and their lack of fraying make them very suitable for this technique.
