Our batiks are made in Indonesia in Java and Bali by batik artisans. We source them from Australian Wholesalers and also directly from manufacturers in Java. The fabric is finely woven 100% cotton (130 x70 40s cotton) suitable for hand stamping with wax and dyeing. It is all hand made so irregularities in stamping and dyeing are common which is part of the reason why we love batiks. Since they are finely woven they do not fray much when cut, making them eminently suitable for applique and patchwork and quilting. Since they are washed multiple times in the manufacturing process, shrinkage is minimal.
