A short Story:

I commenced the cream baltimore applique style quilt during 1992 whilst pregnant with our third child. We were given extremely bad news in the last 8 weeks and advised that death was the most likely outcome at birth but the paediatric team at 32 weeks would do their best with treatment after tests were negative for some causes. Thanks to their huge efforts and a strong will to live, she survived, and I went on to complete the cream quilt. It is shadow applique using organza as the overlay. Hand quilted as machine quilting leaves no fudge factor for puckering with organza. The title is because she came out of hospital on the first day of spring in 1992. I have no doubt that this quilt would never have been completed if she did not survive. 

The batik sampler one is on a very dark indigo blue batik background with blanket machine stitch applique. Blocks have been changed to suit the boldness and bright colours from the batik tonals and prints. This is machine quilted using a long arm and has extensive pebbling, butterflies and flowers with a piano key border.
